Central Otago, New Zealand: the day is chilly, and there’s a general fug of something-not-quite-right in the air. A dark Honda tears through the countryside, missing its number plates and with one tire deflated.
Until the sheep.
The high-speed, 90-minute long police chase came to a fitting end when the Honda almost plowed into a flock of sheep on the road near Wakatipu Basin. They were being moved by a farm worker, but were in fact owned by a local police officer, according to Senior Sergeant Paula Enoka.
Neither the sheep, the working dogs, or the worker were injured, and police swiftly arrested the driver and three passengers.
Just why they were driving a car without number plates remains to be seen, but one thing’s for sure: authorities will be getting to the baaaaa-ttom of this.
