Paul Vaughan Says He’s ‘Very Stupid’ For Throwing A Lockdown Party & Look, He’s Not Wrong

Yesterday, Paul Vaughan, the St George-Illawarra Dragons player who hosted the lockdown party last week, was fired from the team, according to Fox Sports.

After the news went live, he broke his silence in an interview with Fox Sports’ NRL360 where he said that the decision to host the party was “very stupid” and mate, I agree.

“It was a very bad judgement call on my behalf and obviously very stupid,” he said. “I’m deeply remorseful and very sorry for what’s happened. I can’t express that enough.

“It was a terrible judgement call and and one that I very, very much regret.”

He added, “It’s hard to… keep on. I don’t really have the answers. It wasn’t the right thing to do. In hindsight it was dumb, a very stupid thing to do.”

“I love the game so much and it pains me to see the impact it’s had on the game,” he said, adding that “it’s heartbreaking for me.”

Paul Vaughan also shared an Instagram post where he apologised to his fans.

Have a read of his caption below:

Firstly I am sorry.

My actions were stupid, unexplainable and irresponsible.

The events that took place on the weekend were thoughtless and disrespectful to not only the game that I love, but to all of the sponsors, members and fans as well as the broader community.

The reality is, I should have known better and I am truly sorry.

I have let a lot of people down through my actions, and I hope that this sincere apology shows how deeply sorry I am and that I realise the enormity and stupidity of what I have done.

To say that I have learnt a lesson from this is an understatement. I hope one day in the future, I can get the opportunity to showcase my remorse through better actions on and off the field.

Again, I apologise to my team mates, the NRL, the Club, its members, sponsors and fans along with all stakeholders in the game and community.
