
As horrifying news comes out of Paris that at least 18 people have been killed after several explosions near the State de France, and at least one gunman opening fire at a restaurant in the 11th district, Parisians are using the hashtag #PorteOuverte – which translates to ‘#OpenDoor – to help find shelter for anyone who needs it.

Police are reportedly asking people to stay inside. Translated, the below tweet reads: “Shootings in Paris, we invite you to not leave, pending the instructions of the authorities.”

The situation is still unfolding, with reports that up to 60 people are being held hostage at the Bataclan arts centre.
