Paleo Pete Evans Is Pissed At Good Weekend’s Fact-Checked Profile Piece

Celebrity chef and alternative diet advocate Pete Evans has lambasted his recent profile piece in Good Weekend. We would say he “roasted” it, but we’re not sure if that’d violate any raw food guidelines.
During a Facebook live stream Q&A session this afternoon, Evans addressed Jane Cadzow’s piece by saying he’d use it as “kindling”, suggesting he is none too pleased the journalist attempted to fact-check his claims.

FWIW, along with saying he’s trialling an ‘earthing mat’ to reduce the (wholly unsubstantiated) health risks of wi-fi signals, he told Cadzow he won’t drink tap water from Sydney or Melbourne due to its “toxic” fluoride content.

He’s railed against fluride for a lil’ while now, too.

Cadzow saw it fit to mention the US Center for Disease Control listed water fluoridation as one of the greatest public health successes of the last century, and quoted a spokesperson from a peak dentistry body who said Evans’ claims are “complete lunacy.”

She also cited several sources who claimed his preferred paleo diet is little more than a fad. During today’s live stream, Evans was asked by a follower how he now deals with people asking for explanations of how that low-carb, high-fat system works.

He said he now literally just tells ’em to read a book.

In case you were wondering, he aired some more comments that suggested a serious skepticism of the mainstream media and medical advice – “I don’t know whether health professionals are qualified to give dietary advice anymore… the world has gone mad!” – before dropping some tips of his own.
He promoted ox bile pills for digestion. He advocated for the occasional colonic. He called pea and whey proteins “toxic shit”,  said that anyone who ingests non-animal proteins is gullible, and slammed the concept of bodybuilding like it was a loosely-held deadlift.

Evans then doubled-down on the alleged toxicity of potatoes, before Manu Fieldel arrived to pick him up for work.

At least he didn’t say anything that’d convince people not to wear sunscreen this time around.
