Osher Gunsberg Ditches His Shirt For A Good Cause On Men’s Health Cover

Bachelor host and all-round legend Osher Gunsberg has whipped off his shirt to show off his newly-ripped rig for Men’s Health Australia magazine, and in doing so, has also opened up about mental health, and the ways in which exercise has improved his life.

“I always said I’d never take my shirt off on camera unless it was for the cover of Men’s Health Australia,” he wrote earlier today, sharing the photos of his drastic ten-week body transformation. “I’m a man of my word.”

Opening up candidly, he said that the new exercise regimen is also a way for him to manage his mental health and life off medication. In a Facebook post, he explained that the training was carried out under the ongoing supervision of his doctor, over a period of several months, writing:

“I hadn’t been on antipsychotics for about 18 months before I started this. I’d shifted to a different medication for the OCD, however as I got better and better, the side effects now became more prominent than the symptoms – so me and my Dr decided to try life without them. Coming off meds altogether in December meant that I needed to put management strategies in the place where they once were, I needed things to help me regulate my emotions and emotional responses – and resistance training was a large part of that.”

His transformation is extremely evident on the cover, where he can be seen holding a kettle bell in all his glory:

“Sure it takes time, but that’s an investment in my health but more importantly in the quality of my relationships at home and at work,” he continued.

“The mental health benefits are incredible, the physical health benefits are off the chart (my Dr can’t believe my blood pressure for a 44yo) and let’s be honest, the aesthetic benefits aren’t bad either.”

Osher Gunsberg’s issue of Men’s Health Australia is out tomorrow. Meanwhile, the new season of The Bachelor, featuring Nick ‘Honey Badger’ Cummins, premieres on Ten on Wednesday August 15.
