Oscar-Winning ‘Titanic’ Composer James Horner Killed In Plane Crash

Oscar-winning composer James Horner, best known for composing the beloved score for the film Titanic, has died in a light plane crash in California. He was 61.
There were reports earlier today that a plane registered to Horner had crashed, with one fatality, but the pilot was unknown. The Hollywood Reporter have since confirmed the tragic news of his passing.
Horner composed the scores for dozens of films, including Braveheart, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, The Perfect Storm and Jumanji. He was arguably best known for his work with director James Cameron, with whom he worked on Aliens, Avatar and Titanic.
The latter won him two Academy Awards – Best Original Dramatic Score and Best Original Song, for ‘My Heart Will Go On’, performed by Celine Dion. Titanic also won Best Picture that year.
His death was confirmed by his assistant, who made the following statement:
“We have lost an amazing person with a huge heart and unbelievable talent. He died doing what he loved. Thank you for all your support and love and see you down the road.”
RIP, James Horner, you were a legend.
