OH GOOD: Trump Vows To “Totally Destroy” North Korea If U.S. Is Threatened

Hey here’s a familiar sentence: US President Donald Trump has gone off-script and publicly said something dangerously stupid, that will no doubt have worrying consequences across the global political landscape.

Just gonna go ahead and ctrl+c that one for next week’s Trump article.

In his first speech to the UN General Assembly as Big Boi Prez, Trump double-downed on his threats to North Korea, with his boldest statement yet on possible retaliation to the rogue state’s continued ballistic missile testing and nuclear arms development.

In a 41-minute speech that criticised a whole swathe of the planet, including Iran’s nuclear capabilities, Venezuela’s economy and Cuba’s government, the big dick-swinging was reserved for Kim Jong-Un and his regime:

The United States has great strength and patience, but if it is forced to defend itself or its allies, we will have no choice but to totally destroy North Korea.

The reaction in the room filled with world leaders and ambassadors was reportedly not of the small variety, with gasps and murmurs galore, including this face-palm from Trump’s own White House Chief of Staff John Kelly:

Trump also showcased his broad, erudite vocabulary once more, repeating his new favourite way to describe the North Korean dictator as a “Rocket man.. on a suicide mission for himself and his regime.”

NK’s most recent “experiment” occurred last week with a ballistic missile fired over Japan, once again, and there are fears Trump’s lack of restraint in his choice of phrasing regarding the country’s actions, may only work to inflame Jong-Un further.
