NT Government Are Counter-Suing The Victims Of Juvenile Detention Abuse

Since the shocking ‘4 Corners‘ report on the abuse and maltreatment of teenagers in Northern Territory‘s Don Dale Juvenile Detention facility, it’s come to light that two of the boys involved – Dylan Voller and Dylan Roper – lodged papers to sue the NT government in June this year.
The teenage boys are showed in the report being stripped naked, assaulted, restrained in chairs with hoods, and tear gassed. The guards use excessive force against them, and refer to the juvenile inmates as “an idiot” and a “little fucker” and one guard threatens to “pulverise” the boy.
The NT government has counter-sued the two boys, apparently due to the pair attempting escape on May 31st last year – they stole a car and used it to ram a roller-door and re-enter the prison.
They claim the boys caused $89,000 in damage during the escape attempt in May, and say the boys caused another $74,025.60 damage when they rammed a roller door at the prison using a stolen car for a second time on June 1, 2015.
The NT government’s move, which was lodged at the beginning of July this year, is seeking damages with interest and legal costs.

We will update this story as more information arises.
