FUUUCK: A NSW Woman In Her 30s, With No Pre-Existing Conditions, Has Died From COVID-19

A NSW woman in her 30s, with no pre-existing health conditions, has died from COVID-19.

NSW Medical Officer Dr. Jeremy McAnulty confirmed the news during the state’s daily COVID-19 press conference this morning. The woman, who was in her late 30s, was from the Sydney CBD area.

“These are very tragic events and our sympathy goes out to their family, friends, and loved ones,” he said.

“This is affecting people of all ages with very serious disease…”

“If anyone thinks this is just a disease that affects old people, think again,” added NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.

“Young people without pre-existing conditions can fall victim to this disease.”

There are now 141 people suffering from COVID-19 in hospital. 43 of them are in intensive care and 18 need ventilation. Of that 43, 42 of them have not had any dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.

Even more alarmingly, of the 43 in intensive care, one is in their teens, seven are in their 20s and three are in their 30s. IDK about you, but if there was ever a fkn sign to speed up the vaccine rollout and give us young more jabs, I’d think it’d be bloody right now.

There have been 141 local cases recorded since 8PM last night. Of those 141, 87 are linked to other cases in the cluster and the source of 54 is under investigation.

Up to 38 cases were infectious in the community. After yesterday’s lockdown protest, which saw 3,500 mostly maskless buffoons take to the streets against the current stay-at-home rules in Greater Sydney, it’s likely we could see that number and the overall number of daily cases jump.

In response to all this, Berejiklian is urging more people to come forward for vaccination.

“As you know, the health advice has changed in the last few days, so everybody is welcome to come forward and get the AstraZeneca vaccine, and please know that whether it is through your GP, through a local pharmacist or through obviously the NSW health hubs, please come forward and get vaccinated,” she said according to The Guardian‘s liveblog.

“One thing we also know with this cruel Delta strain which is what we are dealing with, is that even one dose of the vaccine not only gives you personal protection, but it also reduces your chances of passing the disease on to others. And that’s why during the Delta outbreak, higher vaccination rates, even of the first dose, slow the spread down.

“It won’t stop the spread alone, but it will definitely, definitely slow the spread down.”

All adult Aussies (yep, even if those of us under 40) are currently able to get the safe and effective AstraZeneca vaccine through a GP. Talk to a doctor to see if it’s right for you.

Alternatively, you can triple-check to see if you’re eligible for the Pfizer vaccine here.

The best vaccine is the first one you can get, and that’ll be our ticket out of this mess.
