Shortly before 6.30am on Saturday, emergency services were called to the scene of the accident on Waldron Road at Chester Hill, in the inner suburbs of Sydney
They say a Holden Commodore station wagon struck a concrete traffic island and then a power pole. The woman was believed to have been sitting in the rear left-hand seat at the time of the crash, the area of the car that took the most impact.
She is described as being of Asian appearance aged between 25 and 35 years, of medium build with long brown hair, and was wearing black work boots, grey tracksuit pants, a black undershirt and a grey hooded zip up jumper.
The car was reportedly loaded with “house paint and other tools” that were found strewn across the road.
