NSW Introduces Bill That Would See Revenge Porn Offenders Jailed For 3 Yrs

Hell bloody yes: that anti-revenge porn bill that was tabled in NSW late last year is getting officially introduced to parliament next week, and it carries some hefty penalties.
The Crimes Amendment (Intimate Images) Bill 2017 would make intentionally recording or distributing intimate images of someone without their consent an offence to the tune of three years in jail and an $11,000 fine.
@ revenge porn dickheads
NSW attorney general Mark Speakman spoke on the bill today, saying:

“This bill will empower victims and provide them with the legal right to ensure that perpetrators can no longer get away with such disgraceful behaviour.

“Behaviour between consenting parties will not be criminalised. Instead, victims will be enabled to take a stand against privacy abuse.”
According to Buzzfeed News, complaints to the eSafety Commissioner about revenge porn have risen by 1,300% in the last nine months, from 24 in 2015/16 to 335 this year.
Responding to the ever-changing morass that is the internet is the only way to deal with new and emerging ways of humans being awful garbage monsters to each other, including appalling bullshit like that “nude-sharing ring” from last year. The sooner this bill goes through, the better.
