My cool Gen Z cousin Coen sent me a video on Twitter last night. I’m not sure how to describe it but if you were to look up ‘chaos’ in some sort of Twitter dictionary, this clip would be très suitable.
It was posted by comedian Luke Mones (@lukemones) and has racked up 14 million views since yesterday. Those views are from me alone, trying to figure out what the fuck is happening here. This clip of under one minute has managed to develop a more complex plot that Westworld, more chaos than The Eric Andre Show and with heroes and villains harder to ascertain than Breaking Bad.
It shows an apartment flooding, a man jumping off a one-storey balcony, a child screaming, a very dented bonnet and one triumphant thumbs up. It is pure, unbridled chaos. What is happening? No one knows. Maybe no one will ever know.

The poster @lukemones has literally given zero context around this video. So let’s try and break this down, here are my questions:
1. What’s up with the water? Where is it coming from? What triggered it?
2. Who is he? Is he the culprit? Why and how is he drenched from head to toe? What was happening 5 mins before this video took place?
3. Why didn’t he take the stairs?
4. WHY DIDN’T HE JUST TAKE THE STAIRS?
5. Is he okay?
6. Was that thumbs up necessary? What is the good news?
7. Whose car is it lol?
8. Can someone mute this child?
9. Is this a hotel?
10. Why is the window broken?
11. Are these people socially distancing? Is the thumbs up man the only one taking preventative corona measures?
12. These are beautiful flowers.
(More of an observation, I’ll admit.)
13. Is this just a TikTok gone wrong? (likely I reckon)
14. Who will play the lead role when this eventually gets made into a feature film?
