No tsunami warning has been issued following a 6.6-magnitude earthquake that happened off the coast of New Zealand this afternoon.
The quake was detected at approximately 7pm local time, occurring a bit over 400km south-west of New Zealand’s South Island at a depth of around 10km, according to the United States Geological Survey.
As is traditional, people took to Twitter to see if what they just felt was an earthquake or if maybe they were just going insane.
Another day, another earthquake in NZ where my flatties and I just yell to each other from our rooms “did ya feel that?”

There have been no reports of any deaths at this stage, but the NZ Herald is reporting that fire and emergency services are responding to Glengarry, where a car was reportedly swallowed up by liquefied earth. Gnarly.
