Nearly 10K Melburnians Used The New 24-Hr Public Transpo Last Weekend

A loud and defiant ‘TOLD YA SO AYE‘ have never tasted so sweet in one’s mouth.
As per the 2014 election promise, Melbourne had its first weekend of 24 hour public transport last weekend. And guess what: nearly 10,000 people used it.
Obviously that number didn’t include fare evaders – you cheeky buggers you – or people within the free tram zone. So the actual number could likely be well over the 10k estimate.
There was no incidents of any kind, so VIC Public Transport Minister Jacinta Allan seems bloody stoked (as is everyone else):

“The response we had from passengers has been fantastic, we had no incidents or issues reported.

The first weekend coincided with New Year’s Day and obviously being a public holiday, and probably most people would have celebrated their night out on New Year’s Eve, we can only expect to see that those numbers increase over the weeks and months ahead.”

YES. GET IT, MELBOURNE!
