This MP Wants A New Rule Banning Politicians From Rooting At Work

A Federal MP has an, uh, interesting idea for politicians in the wake of the Barnaby Joyce lovechild saga, and she reckons they should just straight up be banned from rooting colleagues.

Cathy McGowan, who is the independant MP for Indy, has released a statement following the news the Deputy PM is having a child with his former staffer, and she says new rules need to be put into place to stop workplace fraternising.

She points to the States as an example where the US House of Representatives has very recently voted to ban relationships between politicians and their employees, after a handful of harassment cases.

“Good workplace practice includes clear expectations about behaviour”, says McGowan. “There is a belief the Parliament is behind community expectations and corporate practice”.

The bonk ban, as it’s weirdly being called (I’d personally have gone the Root Restraint or The Cumbargo) has had mixed responses from other pollies, with Bob Katter on board (obviously, as the man is supremely cooked) whereas Foriegn Minister JBish against it:

The Government has no business interfering into people’s personal lives and we wouldn’t want to cross the line, so moral police were able to dictate what happens between consenting adults.

McGowan says she’d be happy to table a motion in Parliament. Good bloody luck hey.
