Movie World Rollercoaster Stuck At Top Of Ride 2 Days After A Safety Audit

A ride at Movie World on the Gold Coast became stuck earlier this afternoon thanks to the accidental triggering of its safety system due to a computer glitch, only two days after it passed a safety audit.

The Green Lantern Coaster stopped suddenly this afternoon, trapping a currently unknown number of passengers. No emergency services attended to the incident.

A spokesperson for Movie World described the incident as a “brief stoppage” to the Courier Mail:

[The] safety systems are designed to bring the ride to a safe stop in a dedicated evacuation zone.

One car of guests was evacuated on the lower stoppage zone while the guests in the car in the lift zone exited as normal when the fault was cleared and the ride restarted.

Movie World passed a parkwide safety audit two days ago, which was initiated in response to the fatal incident at nearby Dreamworld.
We’ll keep you posted.
