Scott Morrison & Bill Shorten Issue Brief Statements About NZ Mosque Shooting

Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Bill Shorten have issued brief statements via social media about the mass shooting at two mosques in Christchurch.

I’m horrified by the reports I’m following of the serious shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand,” Morrison tweeted.

“The situation is still unfolding but our thoughts and prayers are with our Kiwi cousins.”

Australia and New Zealand are family and we grieve with our brothers and sisters today,” wrote Shorten, also on Twitter.

“We send our love and condolences, our sorrow and solidarity in this terrible time of fear and pain and grief.”

Information is still coming out about the shooting, and it is unclear how many shooters were involved or how many casualties there are. Some news outlets are reporting figures, but none have been officially confirmed by the police.

We will report on the police press conference when it happens at 5:30pm local time.
