Sabrina Lekaj, the 20-year-old Adelaide woman who was allegedly murdered by her father two weeks ago, has been remembered at a memorial service this evening.

More than 300 people gathered in Flinders Park today to remember the much-loved young woman. Friends and family members shared recollections of a sibling, daughter and friend who was studious, sweet and funny, and a gifted pianist.

Her brother, Pyrrhus Lekaj, said:

She was very sweet. She had this passion for her studies. She greatly influenced me in everything that I do. She was very loving and caring in everything that she did and I will not forget her.

Her mother Romina said it was a privilege to have Sabrina as a daughter.

I want to remember all the good days and all the good memories. I hope that we all remember good memories and good times we had with Sabrina. Today is a chance to say goodbye to her, but it will never be goodbye – until we meet again my darling daughter, I’ll always carry you in my heart.

Sabrina Lekaj had been studying radiology at the University of South Australia. She was found in a car near the family home in Adelaide’s west on July 21, having suffered fatal stab wounds. With her in the car was her father, 49-year-old Petrit Lekaj, who also had injuries that police now believe to be self-inflicted.

Petrit Lekaj will next appear in court in January, and he remains in custody.
