Mercedes Corby Dishes On Schapelle’s Odds Of Chucking A Tell-All Interview

Mercedes Corby, sister of recently-returned convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby, has given a wide-ranging interview about her infamous sibling.

Speaking to Kyle & Jackie O, Mercedes gave her POV on most of the wild speculation kicked up of late: the future of Schapelle’s Instagram presence, those creepy-as-hell masks, and the batshit The Bachelorette rumours all received some airtime.

Mercedes says the family is just letting her sister chill out after her stint in an Indonesian prison, and that she’s waiting to see “if she can figure it out as time goes by. Time to relax. Find herself.”

That’s not such a bad idea, considering the entirety of her public perception has been based on her conviction for smuggling marijuana, and Mercedes admits they don’t even read the yarns about the saga anymore.

“It’s embarrassing,” Mercedes says.

“It’s just like, who… Lies, we’re not even there, people’s shows getting interrupted. I’d be angry if one of my favourite shows got interrupted.

“It’s like, your kids want to watch cartoons, and instead there’s this fake car chase on. The kids are like, ‘ah, where’s my show?’”

The extended Corby fam wearing those bizarre masks was another attempt to throw the media off, Mercedes says, confirming that they were simply sick of being filmed.

As for Schapelle taking control of her image, Mercedes said that Instagram has been a great thing for her sis, and “she’s worked it out pretty quickly.”

It’s mighty goddamn unlikely Schapelle will succeed Sophie Monk as the next Bachelorette, too. Mercedes actually seemed pretty tuned out to the whole world of modern reality TV, which makes sense, considering her life is currently reality TV.

Perhaps the most pressing Q was about Schapelle’s plans to conduct a tell-all interview, if any. Mercedes reckons she decides “if she wants to, she will, if she doesn’t want to, she won’t.
