“Men In Black 4” Is Going To Get Itself A Woman In Black

Continuing in this grand new Hollywood fad of suddenly realising “holy crap, lead characters can be female?” the much talked about Men In Black franchise reboot looks set to nab itself a female member of the secretive alien-regulating authority.

The husband/wife producing duo of Laurie MacDonald and Walter Parkes – the pair behind both the original trilogy, and the subsequent new movies – have confirmed that, whilst MiB4 probably maybe won’t feature Will Smith, it will centre around a “prominent woman.”
‘Course those of us with decent enough memories will remember that the first MiB film ended with Linda Fiorentino joining the MiB as J‘s new partner L, only to get awkwardly erased from the rest of the series because reasons.
Regardless, MacDonald and Parkes confirmed that the new films will be a entirely different story than the one of J and Tommy Lee Jones‘ character Agent K, as told in the first three films.

“We tried to tell a story about those two characters and that relationship.”

“It sounds silly because it’s a fun, science fiction comedy but when you work on these things you sort of try to find some thematic basis underneath it.”

“Now we are looking at a reinvention. But it’s a wonderful world to get back into.”

And if you want any further proof that Hollywood is an absolutely batshit insane operation where people conduct their business without any rhyme or reason, the producing duo’s latest project was the powerful documentary on the life and struggles of Malala Yousafazi, entitled “He Named Me Malala.”

Hollywood, eh. How bloody about it.
