Melb’s Burger Project Cops It For Casually Using Racial Slurs On Receipts

Is it completely impossible for us to go a single day without people being unspeakably awful for no good reason? What a stupid question, OF COURSE IT IS.
The latest episode of Someone’s Getting Fired: Hospitality Edition comes to us direct from Neil Perry‘s fancy Melbourne burger joint, Burger Project
Local woman Rutendo Ruth Muchinguri posted a fairly damning photo to her Facebook, which shows a tax invoice that appears to refer to her husband and his friends as “n****s”.
“Dear Burger Project,” her post reads, “My hard working black husband went to your Collins St store to have lunch with his friends and this is a photo of his receipt for the order.
“It is so disappointing that in a place where my husband spent his hard earned money, he received this sort of disgracefully discriminatory treatment. Its exhausting that in 2017, in a modern and multicultural society some of your staff remain insensitive to the impact that this insiduously nasty and vile word has.

“Come on, you can do better. This is NOT OK. I guarantee you that we will not be spending our money at any Rockpool Group businesses. I want to know what you will do about this.”
YIKES, GUYS.
In case you weren’t 100% certain, for Christ’s sake DON’T DO THAT!!! I don’t care how much hip-hop you listen to! A slur is a slur and it’s gross and harmful and RACIST and just… don’t.
Unsurprisingly, the Melbourne Burger Project Facebook page is being flooded with one-star reviews reflecting punters’ disappointment that someone just trying to grab a bite to eat had to cop the written equivalent of a slap in the face.
Perry and his restaurant company Rockpool Group have yet to respond.
