32 Y.O. Melbourne Man Charged After “Unprovoked” Assault On Footpath

A 32-year-old Frankston South man has been charged with intentionally causing injury in relation to a shocking alleged assault on Thursday night.

CCTV footage of the seemingly random incident shows three men in tradie uniforms walking alongside businesses on the Nepean Highway in Melbourne’s southern suburbs.

A fourth man, wearing a grey hoodie and jeans, can be seen walking towards them. One of the three men appears to hurl his elbow towards the fourth man, sending him to the ground.

The group continues walking. One of the men can be seen smiling as the fourth man appears stunned on the sidewalk.

Police say the 32-year-old man will face Frankston Magistrates’ Court this morning.

A second man was interviewed by police but was released, pending further enquiries.

Earlier, Senior Constable Joel Barbera described the incident as “a disgusting a vicious attack. Very unprovoked.”

In a statement, Victoria Police also thanked members of the public for their assistance in helping to identify the alleged attacker.
