Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back is the latest flick in the Star Wars franchise to cop the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra treatment and have mercy, fans are in for a treat.

If you were unlucky enough to miss out on the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s Star Wars concerts last year – both The Force Awakens and A New Hope – let us fill ya in real quick.

This year It’ll be held at the Plenary, Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on the 14th, 15th and 16th of December, where you’ll get to experience Star Wars in a completely new format. Accompanied by an entire orchestra performing John Williams‘ iconic score, Empire Strikes Back will play out like the epic Space Opera it is but with the added intensity of having a group of profesh instrumentalists with you for the ride. It’s like a jacked version of surround sound.

The whole experience is even said to give ya goosebumps throughout scenes you’d watched a million times and thought you had no goosies left to feel. That’s the power of the symphony right there.

If the past couple of concerts are anything to go off, expect to bump into a bunch of Darth Vaders, Chewies or Han Solos scattered throughout the crowd, both young and old, living their best lives dressed up as the characters they grew up to love. Pretty. Damn. Cool.

Unfortunately, you get negative points if you’re spotted dressing up as Jar Jar. Soz, that’s just the rules of the Star Wars fandom.

After watching the fan-fave 1980 Space Opera with an entire orchestra performing the score, you’ll never be satisfied watching any of the Star Wars movies in the boring confines of your lounge room ever again. Ever.
