Melbourne Metro’s Adorable Anti-Death Ad Goes Viral

Creating an ad about train safety that is designed to remind the viewer of their own mortality seems like a pretty grim brief, but Melbourne Metro Trains manage to deliver that message through a thoroughly charming and amusing three-minute screen spot featuring animated jellybean-y creatures and a singalong jingle by singer-songwriter Tangerine Kitty.

The spot is called “Dumb Ways To Die” and it has successfully “gone viral” amassing more than 4.7 Million YouTube views since its release on Friday.  If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look below.  The theme is chilling but the execution is adorable and the sentiment is clear: Don’t be dumb.

The animation has been accompanied with a stand-alone Dumb Ways To Die tumblr which features a bunch of fabulous GIFs you should check out.
