Melbourne Man Cops Assault Charge After Racist Bust-Up At Synagogue

The list of ‘Better Things To Do Than Threaten People At A Religious Institution’ is a very, very long one. It’s even longer after you take senseless acts of violence like last year’s shootings at a South Carolina church into account.

That doesn’t stop people, though.

Last night in Melbourne, the Adass Israel Synagogue in Ripponlea was the stage of a pretty cagey scene; in a video posted to Facebook, a man visibly and verbally threatens parishioners, telling them to “go back to Israel” before grabbing a man and being tackled to the ground.

Terrifying scenes at Adass Synagogue in Melbourne today. In the event of an emergency call Police 000 then CSG on 1300 000 274.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after.
It’s reported the man was part of a group that attempted to steal a kid’s scooter from the synagogue (who steals a Razer? From a synagogue?), and he’s been charged with counts of unlawful assault, criminal damage and theft.
He’s set to appear in court on January 19.
