Melbourne Has Immortalised The Iconic Kangaroo Biff With A Full-On Mural

By now you’ve probably heard all about Greig Tonkins, the guy who, depending on what kind of day the internet is having, either heroically or shittily decked a kangaroo in defence of his angel pupper (obviously he’s a reluctant anti-hero but whatever. Opinions, I guess).

Despite being wrecked online, Tonkins was later found to be a bona fide animal-loving elephant-keeper, and was ultimately backed up by his zoo
After all, what kind of shitty zookeeper would want to injure a kangaroo, unless that kangaroo was a dog-hurting jerk which would actually recover v. quickly from said injury?
And while the act of punching a kangaroo in itself is obviously not worthy of celebration, this specific punch is obviously worthy of discussion and, apparently, artistic interpretation via mural along some random building in Melbourne.
Because now, like so many controversial icons before him, Tonkins has achieved this very niche form of immortality. A huge rendition of his jab has appeared on the corner of Punt Rd and Kelso St in Richmond:

FWIW, the piece is by Lush. That Lush.
The artist, very much like the act of punching a kangaroo, is questionable at best. You can read our take on the bloke’s recent pieces right here, but at least this one doesn’t poke fun at legitimate mental health concerns, right?
