Melb’s Next Big Hotel Is So Pup-Friendly, It Has A Whole God Damn Doggy Concierge

If there’s one thing that I want any and all hotel experiences to have it’s a good environmental approach. Oh, and dogs. Heaps of dogs. Environmentally-conscious dogs. Dog-friendly hotel, that’s what I want, always.

As reported by Broadsheet, the 1 Hotels chain are finally skipping across the pond from the US to Australia, and setting up shop in Melbourne by 2022. The greatest thing about this is that not only are they a dog-friendly spot to rest your head, they actively encourage pups to check in as part of the family.

Pups are apparently spoilt rotten with fluffy dog beds and treats in the minibar, as well as doggy daycare, a dedicated puppy concierge (humans, not puppies in suits) who know all the ins and outs of local dog parks for w-a-l-k-i-e-s.

It’s projected that the new hotel will feature a huge 280 rooms and sit alongside the Yarra River, and is set to have a bunch of features made from recycled and reclaimed materials.

And it’s not just puppies that will be welcomed into the dog-friendly Hotel 1 Melbourne. Though pups have been in mind when curating experiences and stays at each of the US hotels, the New York spaces say that they welcome other animals, but have to be confirmed on a case by case basis. So uh, maybe don’t try and bring a pony through the lobby.

The hotel chain prides itself on being gung-ho on fitness and self care and all that jazz, and the Melbourne site is going to be no different – with a planned state-of-the-art wellness centre and a whole heap of dining areas and food options.

So from 2022 when 1 Hotel Melbourne opens, you’ll be able to check yourself and your best friend, and go for a big wander down the Yarra before coming back to shared room service in your snuggle beds.
