Melb Teen Busted For Hooning Around In A Modded Truck Responding To Emergencies

Now this is… a yarn. No two ways about it.

A Melbourne teenager has been arrested after he modded a truck to look like an emergency services vehicle – including a spotlight, working siren, and flashing emergency lights – and speeding around the city… actually responding to emergencies.

Yes, that’s right. The teen wasn’t just using the lights and sirens to blast his way through peak hour traffic like a mad dog. He was literally responding to emergencies and getting out of his truck to help people, like Batman. That is, if Batman skipped the Batmobile and just modded an Isuzu truck to save a bit of dosh.

Seriously, check out this report from 7 News.

The cops pinned the value of the truck and its alterations at about $100,000. I’m not entirely sold on that – though the Isuzu tradepack he seems to be using goes for about $51,000 new, I don’t reckon the lights and sirens would made up the $100K, surely. Surely.  Sound off in the comments if you think I’m wrong.

The kid faces being charged with reckless conduct endangering people. According to police, upon being arrested he apparently said “I think I’ve been doing something stupid”.

The quote of a true hero.
