Plenty of people get tattoos that they later regret, whether because it’s just a shitty tatt or because circumstances make the tatt a shitty one.
For Mel B, it was the latter – she split from her ex-husband Stephen Belafonte on December 15, after 10 years of marriage.
Mel had a tatt running down her right side which read “Stephen, till death do us part you own my heart”, and rather than going through the longer process of getting it removed via laser – Mel literally got Stephen’s name cut out by a surgeon.
“I wanted the tattoo removed to help close the final chapter on a toxic relationship,” Mel told People. “Even though I’ve taken the steps to remove Stephen’s name from my body, the domestic abuse will forever remain with me.”
She needed 13 stitches to heal the wound, and the rest of the tattoo remains for now.
