Meghan Markle’s Friends & Former Co-Stars Are Coming Out Against The Palace’s Bullying Claims

Friends and former co-stars of Meghan Markle have come out to defend her, amid accusations that she inflicted ’emotional cruelty’ on staff and bullied several out of their jobs during her time living at Kensington Palace.

The claims were published in the Times Of London this week, heightening tensions with the palace ahead of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s highly-publicised interview with Oprah, which is set to air on Sunday Night in the US.

Meghan and Harry have accused the palace of crafting a “calculated smear campaign” and using the media as a tool to “peddle a wholly false narrative”, and various friends have since come out to defend her against the allegations.

In a lengthy Twitter thread, her former Suits co-star Patrick J Adams wrote:

“Meghan Markle and I spent the better part of a decade working together on Suits. From day one she was an enthusiastic, kind, cooperative, giving, joyful and supportive member of our television family. She remained that person and colleague as fame, prestige and power accrued.”

He went on to say that he is astonished by the treatment of her in certain corners of the press, writing:

“It sickened me to read the endless racist, slanderous, clickbaiting vitriol spewed in her direction from all manner of media across the UK and the world but I also knew that Meghan was stronger than people realized or understood and they would regret underestimating her.”

He continued:

“It’s OBSCENE that the Royal Family, who’s newest member is currently GROWING INSIDE OF HER, is promoting and amplifying accusations of “bullying” against a woman who herself was basically forced to flea the UK in order protect her family and her own mental health.”

Jameela Jamil also weighed in, writing:

“Get the fuck out of here with the aggressive Black woman trope to divert from your bad behavior. Any big royal investigations into Randy Andy? Doing this shit to a pregnant woman, again… is beyond ick.”

Actress Janina Gavankar wrote that she has known Meghan for 17 years and that she is “kind, strong [and] open” and is definitely not a bully.

Close friend Lindsay Roth said that Meghan is kind and altruistic and that “after 22 years of very close friendship … I have seen firsthand how she treats her friends and their families, and her colleagues.”

This week, the Times Of London reported that Meghan Markle was the subject of an official bullying complaint in 2018, and that she was accused of mistreating staff.

They allege that two senior staff members were bullied into leaving their jobs, while claiming that others were left “shaken” and “crying” after interactions with the Duchess.

In a statement following the Times article, the palace said:

“We are clearly very concerned about allegations in The Times following claims made by former staff of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Accordingly our HR team will look into the circumstances outlined in the article. Members of staff involved at the time, including those who have left the household, will be invited to participate to see if lessons can be learned. The royal household has had a dignity at work policy in place for a number of years and does not and will not tolerate bullying or harassment in the workplace.”
