Matthew Newton has been charged with assault again. His recent alleged act of violence is against a 66-year-old cab driver who claims Newton punched him in the head.
This incident probably marks the end to the viability of his well-worn excuse for violent behaviour: “I lost my mind” – an excuse he used several times during his recent interview with Tracy Grimshaw for A Current Affair.
If Newton will continue to blame his continuous acts of aggression on mental illness it is likely that he is going to be institutionalised over a long term. Otherwise the only other place for him is jail.
