Mark ‘Bomber’ Thompson Arrested In Relation To Drug Investigation

AFL great Mark Thompson has this afternoon been arrested and subsequently released without charge pending further investigation. The arrest follows a police raid on a Port Melbourne apartment owned by Thompson that took place on Friday.

In a statement, Victoria Police said that the arrest was connected to an ongoing drug investigation:

Police have arrested a 54-year-old Port Melbourne man following an investigation into alleged drug trafficking in Port Melbourne. Detectives from Prahran Divisional Response Unit and Geelong Divisional Response Unit executed a warrant at Port Melbourne on 5 January. Detectives attended the Rouse Street address at 9.30am on Friday (5 Dec). The man has been released pending enquiries.

The Australian is reporting that a neighbour noticed unusual activity around Thompson’s converted warehouse apartment:

A couple of weeks ago late at night there was quite a few people coming and going. Guys with tattoos, and people coming and going.

In 2013, Thompson was fined $30,000 for his involvement in the Essendon supplements scandal.
