Man-Free Uber ‘Chariot For Women’ Wants You To Rename It, Understandably

An Uber-style car service for women only is running a competition for a replacement for their current (awful) name.
According to their Facebook page, they’re running the competition to show that they are “really YOUR company” but it seems pretty clear that the terrible name might have something to do with it.
Chariot For Women was founded in Boston by former Uber driver Michael Pelletz and his wife Kelly, who were fed up of hearing stories about female passengers having bad experiences at the hands of drivers.
Apparently it didn’t take all that long to come up with the idea, and its origins sound a bit less altruistic than you would think, from their website:
“It took only ten minutes for Michael to come up with an entire business plan for a brand new rideshare company; driven by women, for women and children passengers only. This was the untapped market that Uber and Lyft neglected.”

In addition to only taking female passengers and their sons under the age of 13, the service will exclusively employ female drivers, creating a driving experience they view as safer for everyone involved.
Customers and drivers will have to tell each other a secret password before taking off, which should stop any carjackings or kidnappings and make you feel like pretty cool spy. Also they have no surge pricing, which is dope.

The competition runs until April 15th and the conditions don’t mention anything about having to live in the US, so feel free to try shimmy in your terrible FemTaxi pun and win a free trip to Boston.

For now the service is only in the States but if it takes off there we could well expect to see it here soon.
