A Two-Month-Old Baby Has Died On A Flight From Malaysia To Perth

A two-month-old baby has died aboard an AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Perth this morning after experiencing a “medical episode”. The plane remained grounded in Perth for several hours as authorities conducted an investigation.

AirAsia has confirmed a situation aboard flight D7236, and that the craft was met by medical specialists and police upon arriving at its destination. The company emphasised its commitment was to the safety of its passengers and would not comment further on the infant’s medical situation.

“We are unable to comment further on the infant’s medical situation, however our thoughts are with the infant and family involved,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

Federal police and forensic officers remain on the scene investigating. WA Police told the ABC there is nothing to suggest any suspicious circumstances around the baby’s death.

The flight, which landed in Perth at 5:30 this morning, did not leave again until nearly midday.
