Following the arrest of Chris Dawson for the 1982 murder of his wife Lyn, her family has told the media that they are particularly grateful to Hedley Thomas, the journo behind podcast The Teacher’s Pet.

The true crime podcast is believed to have uncovered new evidence behind Lyn Dawson’s disappearance, leading to today’s arrest.

Lyn’s brother Greg Simms told Studio 10 today that the family were “over the moon” at news of the arrest.

It’s taken a long haul but it’s going to be a very good Christmas for our side of the family knowing that we’ve finally got somewhere.

We’ve fought to keep our sister’s name out there and finally we’ve got some sort of justice on the way.

Lyn’s niece Renee Simms told Mamamia this morning that she was “still in shock“, and that the family was “quite emotional“.

She specifically thanked Thomas for his work on the Teacher’s Pet podcast, as well as the members of the public who contacted the authorities with new information.

What he has done […] has been everything.

I think without Hedley, today wouldn’t have happened. He has just made this case so public that it’s put so much pressure on the authorities. He’s just made all the evidence so public.

All of you as well, who have kept reporting on this and kept it in the public eye. All of you have helped.

Chris Dawson, 70, was arrested at his home this morning and is said to have gone quietly with police. Lyn Dawson’s body still has not been found.
