London’s Putting Out Their Marmalade To Honour Author Of ‘Paddington Bear’

Michael Bond, author of beloved children’s character Paddington Bear, has passed away aged 91.
Paddington Bear was the star of numerous novels and picture books, a TV series and a movie (with a sequel coming out in November), and a staple of childhood literature around the world.
The accident-prone, morally upright bear is known for his blue coat, impeccable politeness, and a powerful love of marmalade sandwiches.
So it’s no surprise, then, that Londoners are leaving tributes of the brekky preserve at the Paddington Bear statue in Paddington station in honour of Bond’s memory.

Other people are sharing photos of their childhood Paddingtons, and the whole thing is just about enough to break your marmalade-loving heart. RIP, Michael Bond. Thanks for everything.
