Let’s Ensure That Anna Bligh Makes The Time 100

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has been named alongside Oprah Winfrey, Barack Obama and Mark Zuckerberg in the publicly voted Time Most Influential poll. The poll currently pegs Korean pop star Rain as earth’s most influential citizen while rapper Kanye West apparently wields the least influence of the 203 person field. Bligh occupies the 65th position, one behind Conan O’Brien and one ahead of Burmese dissident and Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi. Much like former New York City Mayor and 2001 Person of the Year Rudy Giulliani, Bligh drew praise for her ability to marry pragmatism with passion in the face of disaster.

Kudos to her. The sensitivity and strength with which she handled and continues to handle the Queensland flood situation is worthy of the highest recognition and with your help, we can help leapfrog Bligh into the magazine itself. The winner of the poll will be automatically included in the coveted Time 100 and though we’re fighting shirtless Korean pop stars, Glee cast members and pioneers of pantlessness, Bligh only needs 15,000 votes or so to usurp them all. Let’s do her a solid and spare a minute of our time, eh? Tell all your friends. Voting closes April 14.
