Leigh Sales Locks Horns With Joe Hockey In Post-Budget Interview

Last year, on budget night, 7.30 journalist Sarah Ferguson got stuck into Treasurer Joe Hockey so hard that an ABC-commissioned review found that she had breached the broadcaster’s bias guidelines

Hockey was likely expecting a grilling when he fronted up to Leigh Sales for this year’s budget interview, and Sales most definitely came prepared with lighter fluid and a Kiss The Cook apron.
“Is this what political retreat looks like?” she asked right up front, accusing the government of giving “hand outs” thanks to its small business tax breaks, and doing backflips on previous plans.
“Do you think that the voters are confused about what your government stands for and about your competence?” Sales asked at one point.

“No, they are probably confused about what you’re saying,” Hockey replied.
