Labor’s Anthony Albanese Delivers Sassiest Press Response To Nemesis’ Retirement

The best politicians are the ones who we never hear about: usually because they get little air time to actually fuck anything up; sticking a camera on your mug 24/7 is a surefire recipe for a gaffe and rocketing public disapproval. Take former Deputy PM Anthony “Albo” Albanese, for example: the man who narrowly lost the Labor leadership to Bill Shorten in 2013, who has made a stellar Dad appearance on Rage, and has raved about TFW you see Nirvana at Big Day Out. Albo, who knows what you do in the shadows of parliament these days, but your PR game is truly on point, because you’re hardly ever there.

Max Moore-Wilton, the current Sydney Airport Cooperation Chairman has announced his retirement from his position. Moore-Wilton, is, however, a long-time nemesis of Anthony Albanese, following an extended and public feud between the pair over the construction of a second Sydney airport. Moore-Wilton took umbrage in 2011 with Albanese’s comments over the construction of a second airport in Sydney, citing that Moore-Wilton’s disapproval was a clear “conflict of interest” (duh). Moore-Wilton even threatened to sue Albo over his remarks, after he said, “But as the head of a company that has a monopoly over the existing airport, any fair analysis would conclude that he has an enormous conflict of interest.”

Moore-Wilton’s retirement and symbolic end to a long-winded coup naturally came as good news to Albanese. So good, in fact, he released the sassiest press statement of all time, with a single word: Good.

ZAH-ING!

Keep up the good fight, Albo.
