The ABC election expert Antony Green has pointed at a “spectacular failure of polling” in his broadcast, saying that he simply cannot see any way for Labor to win the election – it’s quite likely looking like it is going to be a Coalition victory outright.

It’s looking insanely bad for Labor and very, very good for the Coalition across the entire country. The swing to Labor in Victoria was much smaller than expected, and there was a vast swing against the Labor in Queensland. Additionally, Tasmania will probably go the Liberals, and the Northern Territory might too.
In short: a huge wipeout absolutely not in line with any polling. How that happened we’re sure to find out over the coming weeks and months.
So we’re looking at two outcomes, most likely: either a Coalition majority government or a Coalition minority government. Most likely the former. Wild!
