Kim Jong-hyun, Lead Singer Of K-Pop Band SHINee, Has Died At 27

Fans of hugely popular K-Pop band SHINee are mourning today, after the lead singer Kim Jong-hyun sadly passed away in hospital overnight.

Kim was found unconscious inside a residence in Seoul, South Korea, a police official told Reuters.

“His sister was first to call the police assuming that he might commit suicide,” the official told the news outlet.

Yonhap news agency said the singer sent a message to his sister, asking her to “let me go.”

SHINee, a boy band, is one of the most popular in South Korea. Kim also worked as a solo artist, and was part of SHINee for close to a decade.

Fans have taken to Twitter to express their grief.
