Kevin Bollaert, Founder Of Revenge Site U Got Posted, Jailed For 18 Years

Kevin Bollaert, the San Francisco man behind the revenge porn site U Got Posted, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison, after being found guilty of identity theft and extortion.
Per reports in Fairfax, the 28-year-old web developer and confirmed douchebag’s site featured more than 10,000 sexually explicit photos, mostly of women, which were submitted by users.
Bollaert’s operation differed from other, similar sites in that he posted extensive personal information, including the names, phone numbers, ages and locations of victims, along with links to social media profiles.
He charged individuals between $300 and $350 to have the pictures removed, and per reports, he earned more than $30,000 this way, in addition to earning ad revenue of around $900 a month.
Bollaert was convicted in February, and during his sentencing hearing this week, 21 victims testified about the trauma and humiliation they faced after their photos and private information were posted to the now-inactive site.
Per NY Daily News, Bollaert cried as he listened to the victims’ testimony, and his family’s request for leniency was denied. California Attorney General Kamala Harris welcomed the sentence as a deterrent to online predators.
“Sitting behind a computer, committing what is essentially a cowardly and criminal act, will not shield predators from the law or jail,” she said.

“We will continue to be vigilant and investigate and prosecute those who commit these deplorable acts.”
