Kesha Goes Deep On Legal Battle: “This Is About Being Free From My Abuser”

WARNING: This post discusses sexual abuse.

Kesha
has mostly kept silent since losing her court big to break from her contract with producer Lukasz ‘Dr Luke’ Gottwald, the man she says emotionally abused, drugged, and sexually assaulted her over a 10 year period (claims he strenuously denies).

The exception thus far has been a few short messages of thanks to the thousands of people supporting her, a number that includes (mostly female) music industry guns like Taylor Swift, Lorde, and Halsey, and other celebs like Lena Dunham and Christina Ricci.

“I am beyond words in gratitude,” she posted to Instagram yesterday, promising at a longer message to come. “Thank you is not enough but it is all I have.”

Today she’s released her longer statement on Facebook, explaining that it was never about negotiating a bigger or better deal, but about being free from her alleged abuser.

It includes this beautiful message of support to anyone who might be suffering abuse:

“But I just want to say that if you have been abused, please don’t be afraid to speak out. There are places that will make you feel safe. There are people who will help you. I for one, will stand beside you and behind you. I know now how this all feels and will forever fight for you the way perfect strangers have been fighting for me.

“Yes, I am very much a feminist, but more than that, I am a humanist. I believe in supporting my fellow human beings in being SAFE.

“We’re all in this together. You are not alone.”

I’m so, so beyond humbled and thankful for all of the support I’vereceived from everyone. Words cannot really express…
