Karl Lagerfeld, creative director of luxury fashion brand Chanel, has passed away in Paris at the age of 85, according to reports in the French media.

French magazine Pure People is reporting that Lagerfeld passed away at the American Hospital of Paris in Neuilly-sur-Seine.

Lagerfeld’s health was called into question back in January when he missed his customary catwalk bow at Chanel’s haute couture show in Paris. At the time, a statement was made attributing his absence to ‘tiredness’.

Lagerfeld began working for Chanel back in 1983.

More details to follow as the story develops.
