In a press statement, HBO said the actress learned of the diagnosis just one day after her record-setting Emmys win, where she picked up the’Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series‘ gong for Veep for a sixth year running.
“Our love and support go out to Julia and her family at this time,” HBO said in the statement. “We have every confidence she will get through this with her usual tenacity and undaunted spirit, and look forward to her return to health and to HBO for the final season of Veep.”
Messages of support have been flowing in for Julia, but the one that might just burst your heart a little bit comes from everyone’s other favourite former Vice President, Joe Biden.

Elsewhere, people like Hillary Clinton, Mark Hamill and Christina Applegate (a breast cancer survivor who decided to undergo a double mastectomy) are also tweeting their support for the actress.
