Jim Penman, the founder and face of Jim’s Mowing, has written a book about the demise of the human world as we know it, and wants everyone to know that we all are doomed.
[And that, ladies and gentleman, concludes an intro sentence that this writer never thought she would ever have to write. What a time to be alive.]
As LOL as it sounds, Penman is actually has a PhD in history, and after finishing his doctorate at La Trobe University 30+ years ago, has just published a book called Biohistory: Decline and Fall of the West.
The book applies the study of epigenetics, which is a branch of biology focussing around changes in genetic expression (rather than DNA sequence) as a result of environmental influences.
As you might have guessed from the name, the books end conclusion is centred around the theory Western civilisation already being decades into the decline which will end with our demise.
Rather than being ‘that company your Nan hires to give the backyard a bit of tidy-up’, Jim may want to start looking into bit of a company focus switch. For example, ‘Jim’s Bunkers’ or ‘Jim’s Spaceships’.
