Man Accused Of Bourke St Rampage Pleads Not Guilty To All 39 Charges

James Gargasoulas, 27, has pleaded not guilty to all charges related to the horrific Bourke St rampage, which saw six people killed and dozens injured.

He appeared at the Melbourne Magistrates Court via videolink today, where he pleaded not guilty to six counts of murder, 28 counts of attempted murder, and five other charges.

He’s accused of driving a car through the busy Bourke St retail strip in January this year, mowing down pedestrians as they ran for cover.

The alleged victims include a three-month-old baby, a ten-year-old girl, and four adults aged from 22 to 33.

Unlike previous court appearances, Gargasoulas was subdued in this one, barely speaking throughout the short proceedings.

He confirmed that he understood the charges, and pleaded not guilty.

His case has been fast-tracked, and he’ll appear before the Supreme Court on Monday.
