“Intense” Pickle-Flavoured Doritos Are A Real And Edible Thing In Canada

The internet can be an odd place sometimes, proven tonight by the resurfacing of Doritos Intense Pickle Tortilla chips. Pickle ! Flavoured ! Doritos !

This recent rediscovery was made by American publication, Bustlewhere one particular writer was on the hunt for something pickle-flavoured when she came across this monstrosity. And no, this isn’t some sort of PhotoShop spoof either, it’s a very real product only available in and introduced by Doritos Canada.

And, it’s not just pickle-flavoured, it’s  I N T E N S E pickle-flavoured.

Enjoy the extreme crunch and explode-in-the mouth flavour as you and your friends dive into a bag of Doritos® Intense Pickle flavoured tortilla chips. Savour the tanginess of the intense pickle flavour in every bite.

Full disclosure: I hate pickles so that sounds feral to me.

Since Bustle’s find, America’s having a dilly of a time trying to get their hands on the snack but for a packet of chips the costs are high. I mean, you can get a packet for AUD $15.99… plus shipping from America… let’s not get into that.

According to the reviews on Amazon.com the chips are a bloody treat and a half with one user writing, “These chips are amazing. I cannot sing high enough praises for these pickle chips. I know it sounds weird but trust me, if you like pickles and dill you love these.”

But according to an Aussie who somehow got her hands on the chips last September, the Doritos might just divide households:

“These are something very different. For me it had a very tangy taste that I hated and I love pickles but this tasted horrible like someone did a dump in the bag. I thought it would taste good but didn’t reach my expectations.”

Per Bustle, the product’s digital footprint goes back to around 2011 with a couple of local bloggers reviewing the product. So it has been seven years but the snack still appears to be a novelty because lots, and I mean lots, of people are still reviewing the item to this day.

The latest review I found was from July 20, 2018, six days ago from a reviewer on Canadian website Influenster:

Yum! These are one of my favorite snacks. They have so much flavour in each bite, and the bags are generous so I feel like I get my money’s worth. I can’t get enough of these and definitely recommend them to everyone!

Alrighty-roo.

Meanwhile, the Australian Doritos site is completely normal.

Also, my stalking of these pickled-flavoured Doritos lead to this review and now you can watch it, too:

I hope Scott got the video message.

In other odd-things-around-the-world news, this is 100 per cent like the time last week when the world re-discovered Croc High Heels and people freaked out.
