I mean, they can say it’s not a gif-making app, and they can describe it as not a gif-making app, but it’s definitely a gif-making app, and we thank them all the more for it.

Boomerang isn’t an Instagram update – it’s an entirely new app.
“Press a button and the app does the rest,” they said in a blog post. “Boomerang takes a burst of photos and stitches them together into a high quality mini video that plays forward and backward. Shoot in portrait or landscape. Share it on Instagram. Boomerang automatically saves it to your camera roll.”
