‘I’m A Celeb’ Producers Reportedly Set To Flee QLD Camp Amid Bushfire Risk

British I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! bosses are reportedly keeping a keen eye on the bushfires currently engulfing broad swathes of Queensland, amid concerns the blazes could impact the campsite of the hugely popular reality TV show.

The Mirror reports ITV, which produces the UK version of the programme, is ready to evacuate the campsite situated near Murwillumbah, nestled on the Queensland and New South Wales border.

At time of writing, the Queensland Rural Fire Service is responding to a vegetation fire in Beaudesert, roughly 30km northwest of Springbrook National Park.

“There is no immediate danger but the safety and the welfare of our cast and crew is our number one concern, and so we will continue to watch how the fires develop,” a source from the production team told The Mirror.

“We are really hoping they don’t get any closer to camp.”

While the production crew waits to see how conditions evolve, the situation is already dire further north in the Rockhampton region. A mandatory evacuation order has been handed down in Gracemere, forcing 8,000 people to flee their homes.

Yesterday, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk urged residents to be prepared amid extreme heat and never-before-seen “catastrophic” levels of bushfire danger.

The risk is “unprecedented, uncharted, but we have a plan and we are going to follow that plan,” Palaszczuk said.

Those in affected areas have been advised to keep a keen eye on current bushfire warnings and to act accordingly. The same obviously goes for the I’m A Celeb production crew, who are facing some genuine environmental hazards barely two weeks after the 2018 series premiere.
